The debut concert of the woodwind factory Carinthia

WOOD IS ALIVE!
What applies to wood, the natural material that has been indispensable to us for thousands of years, also holds true—especially so—for the woodwind community in Carinthia. In a project unique within Austria, the music schools of the region will unite their creative musical forces in spring 2025 into a large woodwind orchestra, enhanced with additional instruments like horns, percussion, harp, and double bass. This exceptional ensemble will present its work to the public in three concerts across the region. Top-tier artistic quality is guaranteed!

The musical journey begins with a “classic” touch, featuring arrangements of works by Mozart and Bach, and includes Austrian premieres and world premieres—such as a specially commissioned composition for the woodwind factory involving the recorder family. The evening’s program culminates with the main piece, Pictures at an Exhibition by Modest Mussorgsky.

The artistic director for this ambitious project is Hans Pircher, a conductor and music educator from Lienz, renowned for his successful leadership of similar projects.
